JOB PURPOSE
The selected candidate will be assisting the WFP ICT unit with the following key duties:
- Basic Help desk support, providing first level support to client’s following up on customer requirements and status update of work undertaken to ICT unit daily;
- Assist in the maintenance of systems and equipment by carrying out routine tasks as instructed, such as backing up data, monitoring network and systems, servers and peripherals, running systems diagnostics, patch management and system optimization, removing viruses and bad data, etc.;
- Assist in performing routine checks and maintenance on network equipment, printers, projectors and telephones and assisting staff to set up AV systems in conference rooms;
- Assist to Set up, control and maintain the performance of all radio communications equipment in the country;
- Assist with the set up and upgrades of computers, phones and other accessories;
- Install and maintain computers and other IT related equipment in the existing network.
- Monitoring the network and tracking internet downtimes;
- Assist and Support conferencing services including setting up teleconference, video teleconference, and presentation equipment;
- Keeping anti-virus software up to date on every computer in the network;
- Assist in keeping track of the various IT inventory including updating the asset management system by doing the physical count;
- Assist in the deployment/dissemination of standard material, such as, computer hardware and/or software;
- Assist with performing assigned internet researches on a variety of technology solutions to support the mission of WFP. Participate to the test new IT equipment;
- Assist on special projects related to hardware and software enhancement and troubleshooting;
- Compiling all up to date IT documentation – network diagram, user’s manual and other IT related document;
- Work closely with the team to provide support to users, understanding and resolving issues, and ensuring IT policies, procedures, systems and tools are correctly applied to support them;
- Interact effectively with internal and external colleagues and user groups to understand their needs and provide appropriate technical support;
- Provide detailed weekly reports on all tasks assigned;
- Perform other duties as required;
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 12 months from a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering;
- Fluent in English and Arabic
- National of Lebanon residing in Beirut
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the amount of US$700 per month depending on the duty station, (the current amount for Beirut is around $600 per month)
- WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, travel to and from WFP internship location, necessary visas and costs related.
