Child Safeguarding:
Level 3:  the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff

We carry out both long-term development work and, more recently emergency humanitarian work.

SCI strategy for livelihoods interventions focuses on refugees’ access to employment and micro-entrepreneurial activities.  SCI engaged with the private sector in Greater Cairo to provide livelihoods support across two pathways – wage employment and micro enterprise.  SCI livelihoods activities drew on proven packages of intervention through a holistic approach addressing various refugees’ needs to accelerate outcomes for the brief period of implementation for livelihoods support.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The livelihoods community mobilization coordinator will be responsible for supporting SCI’s livelihoods activities for youth refugees, asylum seekers and their host communities. The position holder will support the community mobilization, targeted refugees and migrants’ youth reach out and regular collaboration building with different CBOs and INGOs in order to expand the reach out activities with different refugees’ groups in Greater Cairo. He/she will also liaise with existing refugee’s humanitarian response networks.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Project Implementation:
  • Develop monthly field plans and lead on the reach out assessments and implementation of the livelihoods activities for refugee youth and host communities (wage employment and microbusiness activities).
  • Support in activating and maintaining the internal and external livelihoods referral systems.
  • Collaborate with SCI livelihoods’ team members to focus on targeted group Profiling.
  • Build strong relations with different CBOs and INGOs in order to expand the reach out activities in coordination with livelihoods operations officer.
  • Make regular field visits to support creation and strengthening of community-based structures and mechanisms needed for local integration of refugees and asylum seekers within the local community. 
  • Ensure that project activities are implemented in line with Save the Children’s policies and procedures, and adhering to donor requirements and guidelines
  • Maintain records and databases related project operations and beneficiaries’ updates.
Reporting and documentation
  • Prepare monthly field activities plans and achievements’ reports.
  • Maintain records of project beneficiary interactions.
  • Collect information on different livelihoods services for refugees and how to access it.
  • Report relevant issues and highlights in community to line management.
Partnerships/Networks
  • Support engaging civil society partners in collaborations and networks to ensure the most vulnerable children’s issues are highlighted;
  • Advocate that all service providers, employers and organizations act in best interest of refugee youth and host communities.
  • Support the livelihoods referral system.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Essential:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two-years’ experience in reach out activities.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in livelihood projects (Background in Start-ups, micro-business initiation and wage employment.).
  • Experience in communication with CBOs, INGO with the goals of doing partnerships and collaborations.
  • Working experience with refugees and migrants.
  • Strong knowledge about refugee’s geographic divisions.
  • Strong ability to understand the profile of the beneficiaries.  
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain partnerships with different organizations based on clear agreement.
  • Organizational and administrative skills.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills including negotiation skills and working under pressure.
  • Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written) is required.
  • Commitment to SCI values and Child Safeguarding policy.
Desirable:
  • Academic or professional degree in development related fields is desirable.
  • Familiar with African refugee context in Egypt and associated political/cultural sensitivities.
  • Experience with marginalized communities.
  • Fluency in English and other African Languages such as Tigrinya, Amharic, or Somali.
