Lab Manager - Cairo, Egypt

Improving the environmentally safe management and the control of transboundary movements of hazardous wastes in the Arab countries Project
Scope of Work  
·  Coordinating testing among subteams (who tests what and when).
·  Maintaining lab documentation (such as lab descriptions, diagrams, and processes).
·  Establishing physical security by taking measures to prevent unauthorized use of lab
· equipment and manages lab access with keys or electronic locks.  Setting up an inventory control system.
·  Establishing a lab budget for support costs.
·  Resolving environmental problems.
·  Implementing a preventative maintenance program for equipment.
·  Ensuring the lab is kept clean and orderly.
·  Monitor laboratory safety
·  Manage laboratory facilities
·  Monitor the recognition / certification of laboratories

Key Qualifications
·  At least Masters University Degree in Analytical Chemistry.
·  At least 5 years of professional work experience in the related areas dealing with POPs analysis
· and hazardous waste management.  Scientific and technical knowledge in issues involved in hazardous waste management is an asset.
·  Proven good analytical and problem solving skills.
·  Fluency in both Arabic (working language of the BCRC Egypt) as well as in English (working  language of the Basel Secretariat and UNDP) are a must.
Previous work experience with international agencies projects is an asset.  
Proven work experience with MS Office applications is a must.
·  Previous project management experience is preferable.
